Background:
Natalia is a Nutritional Therapist based in Hereford.
Natalia built her own website and carried out her own SEO. The site managed to rank on page one and was off to a flying start.
The Challenge:
Natalia noticed that rankings for her site had suddenly dropped, and the homepage was nowhere to be seen in Google search results. After looking online for an explanation and a solution, Natalia decided to enquire about our 1-hour Marketing Consultation service. A consultation was arranged the very same day over Zoom.
The Solution:
We took time to explain to Natalia how SEO works and ran a full audit on Natalia’s site to understand how we could best resolve the drop in rankings. We found keyword cannibalisation across numerous pages and took time to explain to Natalia what this meant and how it was impacting her site.
Due to Natalia being a new business, we decided to fix the cannibalised pages there and then during the consultation to save on any further costs for Natalia.
Once the keyword cannibalisation was fixed, we walked Natalia through further changes we would recommend carrying out to the homepage and the ‘About’ page. These changes were also then made during the consultation, live through screen sharing.
The Result:
We monitored the rankings in the days that followed, and by the fifth day we could see all cannibalisation was fixed and the homepage started to rank.
Below shows the position of the ‘About’ page on the 7th of October, where the homepage was not ranking.
By the 14th of October, the cannibalisation was fixed and the homepage started ranking even higher than the ‘About’ page.
